About CCEE San Diego

The San Diego Center for Economic Education at Cuyamaca College is a premier provider of economic programs for K-12 schools in San Diego County and surrounding areas.  The San Diego Center for Economic Education (SDCEE) helps schools to integrate the teaching of economics across all grade levels.

The SDCEE provides a variety of quality programs, classes and workshops that enable teachers to help students meet California State Standards in Economics and to have the practical knowledge and skills necessary to become vital members of the local and global economy.

The San Diego Center for Economic Education is an affiliate of the California Council on Economic Education (CCEE) and the Council for Economic Education (CEE).

New Economics Workshop - Saturday, October 9
Looking for ways to stimulate your students' economic thinking skills?  Don't miss this highly acclaimed workshop that uses the context of natural disasters to do just that - stimulate economic reasoning!  Presented by the San Diego Center for Economic Education and the Foundation for Teaching Economics, the lessons in this workshop look at a variety of natural disasters (from the Black Death to Hurricaine Katrina to future fears of avian flue pandemics) through the lens of economic analysis.

The workshop includes:
• Active participation in the lessons and activities

Once again CCEE San Diego is proud to support the annual Junior Model United Nations Conference at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego.

This year the Economics Award for Excellence in Regards to Economic Understanding and Reasoning was presented by CCEE San Diego Board Member Rohn Trieglaff to Grant K-8 student, Adrian De Vico.  Adrian's teacher, Anne Anthony was also present at the ceremony.  Visit the Grant K-8 JMUN website.

From books and booklets, to leaflets and pamphlets, the SDCEE  resource library covers information on the Federal Reserve, finance, money, entrepreneurship, trade and much, much more!

All materials are available at no-cost through the San Diego County Inter-Library Loan program.

Request Our Resources for Use in Your Classroom

It’s easy!  Just go to your branch public library and make an interlibrary loan request of the San Diego Center for Economic Education (SDCEE) materials.

  • Obtain a San Diego County Library (SDCL) card or already be a cardholder.
  • Contact your local branch library and ask them to place an interlibrary loan request for you.
  • Fill out the patron request form (branch staff will assist with this) with your information and the information of the materials being requested.
  • Branch staff will notify you when your materials have arrived.

South Africa Study Tour Forum PDF Print E-mail

You and your students are invited to attend an open forum with four educators from the Republic of South Africa at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in Room I-207 in the Student Center.

The educators are from the University of Johannesburg: Lecturer Economics Mduduzi Eligious Biyase, and Senior Lecturer Economics Arnold Wentzel. From North West Dept of Education: Senior Education Specialists Mmapule Mary Marikie Mokgoatlheng and Moeketse Christopher Molete.

They are being hosted by the San Diego Center for Economic Education at Cuyamaca College from April 26 to April 29, 2010. In addition to being at Cuyamaca College, the group will meet members of the La Mesa Rotary Club and with students, staff, and faculty at Helix High School, Vista Grande Elementary School, Grossmont College, and Kumeyaay College.

Students and teachers at these schools will have the opportunity to learn about the Republic of South Africa firsthand through interaction with the delegation. They will also be meeting Congressman Bob Filner at his office in Washington, DC on April 30, 2010.

The Council for Economic Education is seeking outstanding economic educators (particularly classroom teachers) who have the commitment and support to develop high-quality economic education instructional materials.  Prior to lesson development, participants will complete a CEE Training of Writers program in Washington, D.C. from July 31 - August 8, 2010 (housing, meals and travel provided by CEE).   Participants will be expected to engage in intensive writing activities during and after the workshop and will be required to field-test the lessons they develop in local classrooms.  The program requires a commitment to complete lesson writing assignments and field testing between August 2010 and April 2011.
