The International Economic Summit (IES) is a world trade simulation for high school students sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. This program teaches fundamental economic concepts within the context of international trade. Utilizing the experience-based learning model, the IES challenges high school students to think critically about the benefits and costs of trade and to explore the multifaceted process of globalization. The program culminates in a Mini Summit Event at each school and two optional Regional Summit competitions each year (usually one in the Los Angeles area in the fall, and one in San Diego in the spring).
CCEE San Diego has become a co-sponsor for the upcoming teacher training for the IES Program. This professional development opportunity will take place in Los Angeles in August 10 – 11, 2009. The training and all IES program materials are provided free of charge.
